Trauma Pad 10x12

Have you been looking for a lightweight ceramic body armor plate to defeat the m855, that’s also lightweight, AND affordable? Well this multi-curve body armor plate is the new standard for the Level III+ body armor rating .

RMA’s Level III+ body armor plates (models #1091-1094) have a ceramic body armor strikeface and UHMWPE build that’s specifically tested to meet the new standards set forth by the National Institute of Justice. And with RMA’s III+ body armor plates, there’s no confusion to what Level III+ ceramic body armor should be. After all, the standard for III+ plates is the ability to defeat the m855, xm193, 7.62×39 MSC and the M80 NATO round, which this body armor plate does with flying colors.

If you’re looking for a lightweight ceramic body armor plate that is affordable in price yet sets the standards in ballistic performance, this plate is for you.

Plate Carrier Compatibility

RMA’s multi-curve Level III+ body armor plates pair perfectly with the Crye JPC 2.0. If the size medium body armor plate is the right size for you, then you’ll want to pair it with the medium JPC 2.0. If you need a large armor plate, then the size large JPC 2.0 will be what you’re looking for. However, if the Crye JPC 1.0 is the plate carrier you’d like to pair with these Level III+ armor plates, then we suggest a carrier that is one size larger than the plate. For example, if you want a medium III+ body armor plate, then you’ll want to pair it with the JPC 1.0 size large.

What Does Level 3+ Body Armor Stop?

According to the upcoming National Institute of Justice’s upcoming NIJ .07 RF2 standard, a Level 3+ body armor plate will be required to defeat all RF1 threats (7.62×51 m80 NATO, 7.62×39, 5.56 m193) PLUS the RF2 threat, which is a 5.56 m855 green tip.

When the new NIJ .07 standards are released, the certification will include either 51 or 67 body armor plate samples for full testing.

What are Level 3+ Body Armor Plates Made Out Of?

The main components of all RMA’s level 3+ body armor -both single and multi-curve – is a ceramic strike face and a composite backer.

RMA builds its NIJ .07 tested level 3+ body armor plates with a thin alumina oxide ceramic strike face and a polyethylene composite backer. The ceramic serves to break apart the bullet, which allows the composite backer to act as a catcher’s mitt and catch the remaining bullet fragments and reduce the energy impact transferred to the body.

Typically, the lighter the material, the more expensive it is. Please see the “Details” section on each of our product pages to see the materials RMA utilizes to manufacture them.

Our Level 3+ body armor plates come in a single-curve 10×12 size and shape (Model 1090), as well as multi-curve 3+ size small through extra large (Models 1091-1094).

Why Should I Buy Level 3+ Body Armor?

We say that Level 3+ body armor is the sweet spot of armor. While it may not live up to the Level 4 body armor standards in terms of ballistics in defeating the 30.06 M2AP round, it stops many of the most common rifle rounds in the U.S.

At just 4.5lbs (for a single curve 10×12 plate, or multi-curve size medium) a Level 3+ body armor plate defeats rifle rounds like m80 NATO, 7.62×39 mild steel core, m193 AND the m855 green tip.

What Happens if I Drop My Armor?

If you happen to drop your level 3+ body armor, train with it, or are one of those guys who toss your rig around after you take it off, your armor from RMA should be just fine.

RMA’s level 3+ body armor plates are built with a protective padding on the strike face to aid in the protection of the ceramic, ensuring it doesn’t crack under normal use. However, we do suggest that you take care of your armor as best you can, to ensure it performs to its highest level of protection.

What Size Body Armor Do I Need?

You can figure out what size body armor plate you need with a tape measure. You want the armor plate width to be just inside your nipples. As far as the height of the body armor is concerned, you want to measure from the top of the sternum down to one or two inches above the belly button – when you are sitting down, relaxed.

A majority (75-80%) of people wear a 10×12 or a multi-curve medium.

Can I leave RMA Body Armor in My Car?

One of the most common body armor questions we get is in regards to our body armor’s temperature sensitivity. Simply put, RMA’s body armor will continue to work as intended in just about any temperature environment. During NIJ .06 certification testing, each plate is left in a temperature chamber for two weeks, where the temperature changes periodically, from temperatures as low as 5 degrees fahrenheit to a high of 194 degrees. The varying temperature changes over those two weeks ensure that the materials used in building armor plates can maintain their form and function. The temperature test is done on each test before it is ballistically tested for compliance.

So can you leave your RMA body armor in the trunk of your car in Texas, Florida, etc and rely on it to perform? Simply put. Yes.

**United States law restricts possession of body armor for convicted felons. Many U.S. states also have penalties for possession or use of body armor by felons. This is my second RMA purchase. I am highly satisfied with both purchases. The website is set up very well so that the buyer can assess the comparable data in making a decision. I went with the slightly heavier III+ instead of III; and all of that info reference weight and cost was easily comparable. NIJ comparison images are also helpful.

  2. Michael Grimes (verified owner)

If you’re in the market for this armor as well as buying a Spiritus Systems plate carrier I would size up. For example the Spiritus Systems medium should have fit but I had to go with a large. I’m 5’11 190 pounds of beefcake for perspective. Not a problem of the plate carrier or the armor, just know that was my experience.

  3. Anonymous (verified owner)

Thankfully haven’t had to test the plate’s capabilities yet, and hopefully I never have to. That said, I have no doubt it will do the job if needed. It is very comfortable in the carrier, and from everything I’ve seen you can’t beat the cost for the amount of protection and how lightweight it is. My only complaint is that they are always out of stock. I doubt I speak for myself only when I say, crank up the medium production please!

  4. Matthew (verified owner)

Got these for a slim carrier, to stay light and have practical security. I’ve worn them 3 times in classes so far, they really aren’t too heavy which is what I like the best. Haven’t gotten shot with them on yet, but I trust the brand and testing. Definitely recommend these to my family and friends.

  5. vcvnmvcvnm (verified owner)

I put these in my Crye JPC 2.0 and they fit as snug as possible. I don’t there’s a way that you could fit a bigger size plate. I got the #1093 and I am very pleased with how lightweight it is. I can also shoulder my rifle without any interference. 10/10 RMA protects.

  6. Voya V. (verified owner)

Very impressed with this body armor and company as a whole. It is my first RMA purchase and certainly not my last. I bought the 1092 plates in medium, which always seem to be out of stock. I wanted them because I wanted to run them in a Crye JPC 2.0. I call RMA and they said they just got in some fresh inventory and update their website later that day. An hour later the inventory number jumped to 20, so I bought 2 instantly.

They arrived a few days later and the manufacturing date on the tag was just 5 days earlier! The fit is tight but perfect. I took my time, spending 3-4 min installing each plate carefully and evenly. The end rig is nice perfectly tight at all corners/edges. The 1092 plates weight 4.5lbs each with nice foam around them. I was impressed with the overall fit and finish of the plates. Very high quality. The shape and foam form a super comfortable fit. 9lbs of plates, and 1lb of plate carrier makes for a ridiculously comfortable 10lb rig that I can wear all day, and forget that I’m even wearing it.

I require to trail blaze roughly 15miles a day in the North GA mountains. Sometimes up to 20miles with 3.5miles of elevation change. That’s no trails, carrying an Eberlestock FAC Track 7lb bag, a light 25lbs of gear/food/water inside, 8lb loaded FA M4A1 with 4lbs (4XMags) in a mag holder strapped to the 10lb plate carrier with RMA 1092 medium plates. Wearing Crye Combat Pants and Shirt with Rocky S2V boots and a standard Glock 17 sidearm with two extra mags in an Eberlestock fanny pack. That is about 50lbs total, up from 40.

I did a 10mile trial run two weeks ago to test the 25% increase in weight with the body armor, and it did not have as much of an impact as I expected. The 9lb plates from RMA are as light as Class III plus gets, plus the foam and shape make them silly comfortable. They wear so nicely in the JPC 2.0 that it feels less than the 10lbs they weigh. I showed off my Rig to colleagues today and they all want the same set up after trying it on. But of coarse the 1092 plates in medium are out of stock due to demand. Come on RMA, do batches of 50+ to meet demand. You make too good of a product to order in small batches. Everybody and their mom wants the 1092. When I was the first to buy 2 of the 20 that popped up that day, I felt privilaged that I got them. I think they should be more available to customers. Demand certainly exceeds supply.

That all being said, I highly… highly… recommend RMA and this particular Level 3+ plate. I don’t think there is anything better than the 1092 plates in a Crye JPC 2.0 carrier. No need to look further. And if you’re on the website and see the 1092’s available, instantly add 2 to your cart. If the wife says dinner is ready, tell her to wait while you check out. It’s that important. Last thing you want to happen is you finish dinner and all the 1092s are gone. Then you’ll missout on sleep for weeks, thinking about what could of been, had you of ordered 1092s instead of hearing what little Jimmy learned in school that day while eating chicken and mashed potato’s. I see I’m blabbering now, but let me just cut to the chase: A+ product, A+ company, A+ customer service, order the elusive 1092 if you see them.

  7. Benjamin (verified owner)

    Very comfortable

  8. Adam (verified owner)

I wouldn’t shop anywhere else for body armor. Great Products and great service! The most important but hardest to find in a company lately. And yes… MADE IN THE USA!

  9. Andrew P. (verified owner)

Very happy with my armor! Very light weight and the multi curve fit is great. Stops all common rifle caliber and won’t break the bank

  10. Chase B. (verified owner)

The only armor I could find that was NIJ tested and certified, lightweight, AND affordable. What an amazing company. Plates are also comfortable and fit extremely well. If you’re debating on whether to buy RMA or not, just do it.

  11. Anonymous (verified owner)

The 1094 plates are comfortable and light for their size. Will probably be buying another set in the future.

  12. Chris W. (verified owner)

These plates went above and beyond my initial thoughts. The multi curve feels great, they’re insanely light, and you can’t beat the price. I’m running the velocity systems scarab in medium with the medium plates, they said the plates may not fit because of thickness, but they fit with a little persuasion. When I’m in the market for some level 4’s I’ll definitely be getting from RMA

  13. Andrew A. (verified owner)

I haven’t been shot yet so I don’t know how well it works but it’s lightweight and very comfortable.

  14. James Stone (verified owner)

Stops M855, M193 at 3400+ fps and M80 ball. Comfortable enough to wear all day. Just don’t take it up against armor piercing rounds or M855A1 and you should be good to go!

  15. Jose (verified owner)

I own 2 sets of these plates, single and multi curve. The multi curve are definitely more comfortable and worth the price. I will be getting more soon. Maybe the level 4 if and when the price comes down a little.
    Awesome plates, worth the wait.
Also the shipping was ridiculously fast!

  16. Jarrett (verified owner)

Fast fast fast shipping!! Plates are just as described.

  17. Gary L. (verified owner)

Great plate. Solid and lightweight. Would buy again.

  18. Matthew C. (verified owner)

Love these plates, they work great with my Crye JPC 2.0. Fit and look great!!

  19. Tyler Y. (verified owner)

For those of you on the fence about this. And AR500 branded armor. RMA is and always will be. The winner. Every time. Very timely with the whole process. Ordered Friday. Shipped Monday for a product in stock. Can I say anymore? If you want a quality. USA made product. Just do it.

  20. Robert (verified owner)

Hopefully never test these to give an actual review but RMA has my respect. Got my plates in 2 weeks despite the 6-8 week lead time so I havent even gotten my carrier yet. The price and weight of this plate (1091) make it available to anyone. After tons of research, there wasnt really another contender for my price range which was about 500.

  21. Steven W. (verified owner)

This was my second set of armor, I originally bought the SRT plates which were super light. I have those in a Ferris Concepts carrier and it was a great fit. I bought these plates because I wanted a higher threat level plate. I found both of these plates were packaged really well, and they looked superb coming out of the box. I went with RMA because it’s an American company, and he’s a former Marine like myself. I also found their site easier to navigate than all other companies, and their pricing was really good. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them. I’m still waiting until the 26th of this month to get my JPC plate carrier, which are now sold at RMA. I also bought this plate because it was multi curved. Overall these plates are a great buy.

  22. Austin C. (verified owner)

Really quick shipping and high-quality product. I would strongly recommend.

  23. Anonymous (verified owner)

    Should work fine.

  24. NW (verified owner)

NIJ tested plates that give you the protection that most need, yet comfortable to wear for extended times, and are at a competitive price point.
My 1093’s are in rotation with my 1155’s. Thank you to the staff at RMA for the recent fast shipment of the 1091’s (wife).
    Ordered 1/14/2021 received 2/5/2021

  25. Peter (verified owner)

Fit is good, for a range officer –

  26. Jake P. (verified owner)

Great light weight armor, I’ve worn this in my fully loaded carrier for 12+ hours straight with minimal discomfort. Highly recommend.

  27. Richard M. (verified owner)

100 times better than the Steel plates these replaced
Lighter better fit and ceramic versus steal.
And affordable what’s not to like?

  28. Albert B. (verified owner)

Lightweight and they fit perfectly into the shell back. I use them when working out.

  29. MICHAEL (verified owner)

Best bang for the buck multi curve plates. They work well in my LV119.

  30. Anonymous (verified owner)

By far the Best plates for the price! Nij .07 tested

  31. Joseph (verified owner)

Quality American made product. I would not trust my life to the many Chinese made knockoffs out there now. Go with American made RMA. It’s good stuff. Bought the Iii+ and although the wait time was a while based on demand, it was worth it.

  32. Bryan (verified owner)

Excellent balance of protection with moderate weight. The plate is on the lighter side of the weight spectrum but still offers solid rifle protection. It is a great value and a good buy at the price. It is one of the better rifle plates available on the market today.

  33. Scott (verified owner)

Exceptionally well made; exceptionally light. The multi-curve and padding make these plates very comfortable – they can be worn for extended periods without fatigue.

They fit a medium LBT 6094 very well. Nearly unnoticeable weight addition to a carrier – you’ll be surprised when you pick it up.

  34. Josh (verified owner)

Hands down the best armor out there. Amazing quality. Shipped exactly when the lead time was up and the multi curve feels great and it’s not bad at all weight wise. Highly recommend RMA to anyone.

  35. Patrick (verified owner)

Lightweight and comfortable, the plates arrived within the time frame listed on the website. Very glad I went with these over steel. I am 6’2″ but have a long torso, the lg sapi fit better than 11×4 steel armor and are about half the weight. Would reccomend to anyone looking for 3+ protection that doesnt want 15 to 20lbs in their rig. Fit my lg Shellback Tactical SF perfectly.

  36. Cameron (verified owner)

    Great Product and Great Service!

  37. Anonymous (verified owner)

Awesome plates at an incredible price. They fit well in my JPC 2.0.

  38. Neal (verified owner)

    Way awesome plates! Super comfy!

  39. Anonymous (verified owner)

A bit of a tight fit in the Warrior LPC but works great

  40. nobabymomadrama (verified owner)

Excellent extra large plates in 3+ rating what more could I ask for, they are a bit thick though so they barely fit in my Shellback SF carrier but I managed so Oh well at least they are light!!! 🙂

  41. Shahzeb (verified owner)

These are the absolute best plates for the money! Light, multicurve, 3+ protection against most common threats in CONUS. There is a lead time however, RMA shipped it within the time frame packaged perfectly. Highly recommend

  42. Anonymous (verified owner)

  47. Andrew J. (verified owner)

Amazing product at an amazing cost. Would buy again, but hopefully I don’t need to.

  48. Chloe R. (verified owner)

Absolutely amazing! Lightweight and good quality. These work really well for me as a woman, although I am looking forward to the female specific armor y’all have coming.

  49. Evan B. (verified owner)

Best deal going right now. Light, comfortable. A little thick but fits in the Slickster. Looking to order another set.

  50. Rob K. (verified owner)

Extremely light and fit snugly in a JPC.

  51. James (verified owner)

Fits small-size Crye JPC2.0 perfect. Tight, but fits neatly once shimmied in. Super comfy, curved is advisable. Very happy with the product overall. Hope they work if I ever need them for more than a workout!

  52. Anonymous (verified owner)

Great plates that are a good balance of lightweight and affordable. They fit nicely in a JPC 2.0 even though they are little on the thick side.

  53. Anonymous (verified owner)

Solid. Hope I don’t end up actually using it to stop bullets, but it seems like it would do the trick.

  54. Steven Miller (verified owner)

Having purchased two of these plates, a front and rear I believe the value for the money to be excellent. The lead time for delivery was clearly stated on the website and RMA Armament was right on schedule.

  55. Ryan S. (verified owner)

These plates are awesome, really comfortable, and light weight. They fit into my carrier perfect. Best plates for the money.

  56. TYLER (verified owner)

Upgraded my plates from Hesco 4401’s to these RMA 1092’s and am so happy I made the switch. These plates are close to half the weight of my Hesco’s and the multi-curve is so much more comfortable than single curve.

These plates are a little on the thick side at 1.2″, but I honestly don’t notice the extra thickness. They’re snug in my Spiritus LV119 Covert but still slid in fairly easily. Great plates, great company. 100% recommend for anyone wanting to shed some poundage off their setup.

  57. Greg (verified owner)

Great product, light, and professionally made.

  58. Henry (verified owner)

These are awesome plates! The multi-curve and foam padding is super comfortable and the plates are pretty light. One thing to be aware of, though, these plates are thick. I bought the Large size and mine measure 1.2” (like the description says) but between the thickness and the multi-curve, it was a tight squeeze in my PC. They did fit, it just took some effort to get them in. RMA was also quick to answer my questions! Overall very happy with the plates and company!

  59. Kristina W. (verified owner)

I got a little impatient, but got the product in a reasonable time. Cory does a great job fielding questions. Will refer friends to RMA.

  60. Anonymous (verified owner)

Came as described. Best plates for the money.

  61. Joe S. (verified owner)

very comfortable fit and the weight of the plates isn’t bad either. The plates are great so far.

  62. Anonymous (verified owner)

Very light and seem well made. M plates fit perfectly in my M Crye JPC 2.0

  63. Sean C. (verified owner)

The curve and size small fit me very well with having a 5’7 165lb frame. The weight makes it excellent for movement and doesn’t weigh on your shoulders like plates made of other materials. If you’re looking for quality III+ plates at a good price RMA is the way to go.

  64. James P. (verified owner)

Fits perfect and comfortable. Extremely light weight. And very reasonable price.

  65. David F. (verified owner)

Light weight, good price, and received it quickly!

  66. aaron k. (verified owner)

The plates is very comfortable. It’s pretty tight in my crye jpc 2.0, but it fits, I’m very pleased with it. I will buy more of them.

  67. David F. (verified owner)

Great price and light weight for the amount of protection the armor provides!

  68. derek_r

I just received my 1092 plates today and they are incredible. Extremely light and has nice padding/cushion surrounding the entire plate. They are very comfortable and the curves on the plate hug the body much better than my Highcom plates do and the Hesco plates I have tried. The specs are true to the plate. 1.2″ thick and 4.49lbs. Spoke several times with Blake the owner and he is extremely transparent and friendly. I highly recommend this plate to anyone looking for a low cost low weight plate. The only downside is the are on the thicker side but a work of art non the less. Thank you guys very much. I am extremely pleased with these plates. All American made materials. RMA doesn’t source material overseas like some other brands.
