Evolving from the tried-and-true high-performance 1155 design, these plates cut weight, thickness, and also price. It’s the best value in American-made body armor – and its why this plate is also the best multi-curve level 4 body armor. Made from 100% American materials, we combined our high performance multi-hit capable Alumina Oxide strike face with a lightweight Dyneema® UHMWPE backer to create affordable and also lightweight level 4 plates.
Shed Weight, Not Dollars
RMA 1165 Lightweight Level 4 plates are the ultimate expression of our mission; to make the world’s best body armor available for all Americans. Typically, manufacturers save weight by using lighter weight ceramics like silicon and also boron. We also do that. But it comes at a cost. Our 1192 series is a fantastic lightweight level 4 plate, but is more on the expensive side. Boron/Silicon carbide is more expensive to make, and thus ultimately results in a more expensive plate.
We wondered if there were other ways to save weight while keeping costs down. Legendary Dyneema® UHMWPE was the answer. This high strength material works as a lightweight backer to our famous RMA alumina Level 4 strike face. While this requires a bit more labor and machine time, it also cuts about 1.5 lbs from the weight of our best-selling 1155 plate. You can expect both high performance and low weight from our new 1165 plates. And your wallet? It will stay a little heavier at such an affordable price.
Plus, we’ve also slimmed the 1165 down to only 0.8 inches thin. Save weight, save thickness, and also save money.

Quick shipping, well packed, great customer service when it came to correcting a billing issue. Very impressed with the company side of things. The plates appear to have nice QC and finish. The multi curve hugs my torso well in the carrier. The plates are heavy compared to thicker poly options, but no more than advertised and I don’t plan on rucking in these things. I chose increased protection rating over weight, I also didn’t like how thick the poly plates were. The only thing I can’t attest to is true ballistic performance, and hopefully I never have to. Overall very impressed with the company and product for the sales price I paid, never thought I would be able to afford to outfit myself with this level of quality level IV ceramic plates.

Bought during Memorial sale. Order was processed quickly. I purchased these for their light weight with the intent of pairing them with the medium Slickster. They fit fairly snug, but I see that as a positive. They feel great and the outer material helps as additional padding. Have not tested their ballistic protection and hope I never have to.

Great plate, not the lightest in the world, but fantastic for the price and level 4… they fit great, right into my agilite k19 carrier. Hopefully never have to find out if they actually lvl 4 but… Also, can’t rate them high enough for their customer service / team responses on facebook… there was a guy trashing them and they responded to my questions and even owned up to the dispute they had with the nij on passing a rating. I have the utmost confidence in RMA!

So far, so good. Not too heavy, inserted into my Plate Carrier OK, although my PC is on the larger size, so it could take the thickness. I like the outer covering, as it seems somewhat protective of incidental bumps while out of the PC.

I am very happy with this setup, I have a Large SDS RBAV, and these plates fit perfectly in my Body Armor with my soft armor. I watched a lot of informational videos on these plates and others, before I ordered, this setup was the superior choice.
As an ex Infantryman, I hate the plate carriers with the lower kangaroo pouch, if you exercise or run, and you’re double stacked on your mags, you can expect the velcro to fail. Which is frustrating when your mags start flopping.
