reviewed by austintibbsI got these plates as my first hard armor, not really knowing what to expect. They’re heavy and thick, but you can tell they’re tough just by holding them. They feel like they’ll do the job and I'll adapt to the weight difference.
I picked the Medium SAPI size, and it’s decent, but next time I’d spend extra for the multi-curve version or one of the SRT plates that are half the weight. These standard ones fit tight at the bottom but have a small 1-2 inch gap at the top near my chest, which isn’t super comfy and could also present issues while prone.
They shipped fast—next day—and I had them in 3-4 days. Everything was packed really well with bubble wrap and padding in a strong box, so nothing got damaged.
Even though the NIJ pulled their certification (which seems sketchy to me), a lot of cops use these plates, so I trust they’re solid. For first-time buyers like me, these are a good pick, but go for the multi-curve if you can afford it for a better fit. Or they have loads of Special Rifle rated plates made to stop 5.56 and 7.62 rounds, including green tip I believe!
