RMA’s 10×12 trauma pad utilizes lightweight foam padding that decreases back face deformation and dissipates impact energy, reducing transmitted force. These body armor Trauma Pads are NON-BALLISTIC.
Not only does a trauma pads for body armor reduce energy transfer; they also greatly increase comfort for the wearer. The trauma pad reduces blunt force trauma by absorbing energy over the surface area.
Back face deformation may occur when a round impacts any type of body armor. This energy transfer will likely be felt no matter which body armor ballistic panel you choose. While most body armor has inherently good energy redistribution properties throughout the strike face, our trauma pads will further mitigate energy transfer and back face deformation hazards which your body may absorb.

What is a Trauma Pad?
A trauma pad is utilized behind your body armor plate. This reduces the transfer of blunt force energy from a bullet after it strikes a body armor plate. The main goal of body armor is to defeat the round that strikes it. Then, minimizing that backface deformation. The wearer may still feel kinetic energy from the impact. Thus, some people choose to use trauma pads to further reduce the impact of the energy transfer to your body. The main goal of a trauma pad is to decrease the risk of injury to the wearer of the body armor.
Do I need to wear a trauma pad?
Not necessarily. A common misconception is that while body armor may stop a bullet, it won’t stop a bullet from doing enough damage to kill the wearer anyway. This isn’t the truth. RMA Armament builds our plates to simultaneously withstand their rated threats while deforming no more than 44mm. Extra padding can help minimize that deformation and felt impact. A trauma pad also increases comfort for the wearer. However, it isn’t necessary for your armor to function properly.
